Because Gillman teaches across multiple divisions, she works with different age-appropriate platforms, including Seesaw, Google Classroom and Canvas.
The technology is impressive, but her deeper achievement is adaptability. She did not grow up teaching with digital tools, yet she learned to use them because they could improve the student experience. Images can make an animal study more vivid. Videos can make a scientific process easier to understand. Digital notes can create clearer visual organization for students who benefit from it.

Each week, students select a “Green Action of the Week.” The actions are deliberately accessible: turn off lights when leaving a room, use both sides of paper, recycle correctly, or reduce unnecessary waste.
These actions are small enough for a child to own and meaningful enough to begin building habits. The educational value is larger than the action itself. Students learn that environmental responsibility is not something reserved for governments or scientists. It can begin with everyday decisions.
Green Team students also create signs around the school, speak to homerooms and advisories, and sometimes share environmental information during assemblies. Sustainability becomes visible throughout the school rather than remaining a topic confined to one science lesson.
Gillman has also worked with colleagues as The Browning School implemented the Next Generation Science Standards in middle-school science. She has continued updating curriculum so that it aligns with evolving expectations while preserving opportunities for students to explore science in practical ways.

Before lessons, she contacted students and parents to explain the type of laboratory investigation she would conduct from her kitchen and provided lists of readily available supplies.
